Talented Linebacker Eyes Two

A&M Consolidated High School has produced some incredible Division I talent. This year is no different. BearsIllustrated.com caught up with one of the stars on the team's defense to get his take on recruiting, his season, and his future. Come inside to read more.

C.J. Parish stands 6-1 230, and his ability to find the ball carrier, cover receivers, and punish runners who dare to challenge him in space has attracted the attention of several programs. BearsIllustrated.com caught up with the talented linebacker to get the latest.

A&M Consolidated is currently 6-1 overall and 4-0 in district as they head into their bye week this Friday. The last time he checked, Parish was second on the team with 40 tackles, while fellow linebacker Drew Dudley leads the team with 44.

Parish currently holds offers from UTEP, Baylor, and Texas State. But Parish explains that there are a lot of other schools still looking at him and evaluating his talent on the field. Parish admits that at this point he is mainly thinking UTEP and Baylor. Parish describes what he likes about each school.

UTEP: "UTEP, the coaching staff is just unbelievable, Coach Price and everyone down there is great. It is a great atmosphere and is just somewhere that you would like to get a good education from."

BAYLOR: "The coaching staff is real hands on. They will help a player out and everything like that. I try and stay in touch with Coach Kinne. I like it that the classes are a little bit smaller so you get to know your professors a bit more."

Parish explains what the main factor in his decision will be and when he expects to make his commitment.

"It is more about where the best place for me to excel both in academics and on the field. I am thinking about maybe making my decision more towards the end of the year or towards the end of the season. I have taken a visit to UTEP, but I haven't taken a visit to Baylor yet. I want to make sure I look at all my opportunities before I just go and pick somewhere."

Parish describes his style of play on defense. "I like to read, I read a lot. I am very fast and quick. I get to the play pretty quick, and on an outside run, I get there pretty fast. I just feel that I am a very athletic 230 pound guy."
