Clifton Odom in Waco For Weekend

Clifton Odom is a 5-11 175 pound defensive back with a reported 4.50 forty time. It is no wonder he currently holds offers from Baylor, Iowa, Kansas, TCU, and others. BearsIllustrated.com sat down with Odom to get the latest on his recruitment.

Clifton Odom currently holds offers from Buffalo, Kansas, TCU, Iowa, and Baylor. The 5-11 175 pound defensive back from Arlington Martin High School has narrowed his list to three schools.

"My top three would be Kansas, Baylor, and Iowa. TCU is close and Texas A&M if kind of up there as well, but they have not offered."

Odom explained what he liked most about his top three schools.

"I took an official visit to Kansas last week. I like Coach Mangino. He is really laid back. It was amazing with that nice facility and the great weightroom. They are also getting all new facilities in 2008. At Kansas they treat players like they are first class, and they stress academics as well."

"As far as Baylor, I have always had my eyes on Baylor. Coach Hoeffer and I have a really good relationship. My dad played against Coach Morriss as well."

"Iowa is a school that I am not too familiar with, but it started getting serious a month ago. I like the coaches up there and it is in the Big 10. It's Big 10 football with Ohio State and Michigan."

While Odom explains that all three schools are even, he is looking for certain things on the next level.

"Academics comes first, and my dad has always told me that. I would like to go to a school and win and compete. I want to get to bowls and compete for a championship."

Odom is a speedster on the track and understands the importance of doing whatever it takes to come out on top.

"I feel I have good character, and I don't mind doing the things it takes to win."
