Mike Williams: Picture Getting Clearer?

At one time Beaumont Westbrook defensive back Mike Williams was a Baylor Bears commitment. However, he has since opened his recruitment back up. Come inside to see where Baylor stands, what other schools he is looking at, and where he plans to take his official visits.

Standing 6-1 170, with a timed 4.48 40, Mike Williams is definitely going to be a valuable player in the defensive secondary. Right now, the only question is where he will be playing next fall. Williams sat down to give us the latest on his recruitment.

"Right now, I am open and looking at several different schools. I am going to Boise State next weekend, and the to Iowa for my next visit. I have a visit sceduled to Florida on January 18th."

With former teammate and current Iowa Hawkeye, Jacody Coleman, being a close friend to Williams, the talented cornerback discusses the possibility of playing college football a little further away from his home state of Texas.

"Jacody and I are really good friends. We are like brothers. Jacody tells me it is not too cold up there, and it is a good atmosphere. Him being there would help a lot."

Mike Williams, was once a Baylor Bears commitment, and he discusses how the new coach at Baylor may influence his decision.

"I haven't talked with Coach Briles yet, but a lot of the Baylor players are saying how cool of a coach he is, and how good of a person he is. Baylor is definitely not out of it."

With signing day quickly approaching, there are many things left on Williams' schedule. However, he has a plan, and will make the best decision out of the options he has.

"I would like to make a decision early, but I will take all my visits. I plan on releasing my decision the day before signing day."

There is no doubt that one key factor will influence the prep standout's decision more than any other.

"Education is first. That is the big thing. I also want to be comfortable with the coach and staff, the system, and the players. Distance; I would like to play close to home, but it is not as important as the education. That's a big factor."
