Jackson Firm In His Commitment to Baylor

At 6-4 275, Jake Jackson stands tall as a standout offensive lineman from Southlake Carroll. He committed to the Baylor Bears in July, and BearsIllustrated.com caught up with him to get the latest. Come in to see what Jake Jackson had to say.

Back in July, Jake Jackson committed to the Baylor Bears. He told BearsIllustrated.com, "I made my decision and I am sticking to it." Consider Jake Jackson a man of his word. The Baylor Bears went through a coaching change recently, naming Art Briles as the head man at Baylor replacing Guy Morriss. Jake Jackson comments on the change.

"Even though they are new coaches, they are good coaches. They are all good guys, and I am excited. I talked with Coach Montgomery and Coach Clements, and I am ready to go. As they say, 'We are on the 5 minute plan.' As soon as I get there it is go time. Coach Briles is very energetic and he knows what he wants."

Jackson explains that before the coaching change and before his commitment to Baylor he discussed the decision with his family. It was determined that the education he would receive at Baylor University was the driving force over the other offers he holds from schools such as Georgia Tech, Louisville, Colorado State, Houston, New Mexico, and Tulsa.

Jackson explained that he was not too concerned with the coaching change because he committed to the school itself. He also provided that when Art Briles was named head coach, it affirmed his decision.

Jackson is staying in shape and preparing for life ahead as a college student-athlete, and with his attitude, it appears he is headed in a positive direction.

"When I step on the field, I will always compete. I was taught to never take a play off, and to leave it all on that field."
