Baylor Recruit Firm in Commitment After Visit

He stands 6-0 187 and turned heads with his 4.4 forty speed and his performance at the combine held in Valley Ranch. He just got back from a trip to Baylor and he took the time to visit with Come inside to see what he had to say about Baylor, new Baylor head coach Art Briles, and how solid his commitment is.

When Lanear Sampson committed to the Baylor Bears last year, the Baylor faithful knew they were getting a highly skilled receiver that possesses the physical attributes that makes him one of the best wide receivers in the state of Texas. He stands 6-0 187, and he holds offers from Baylor, Arizona, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Rice, and Duke. Sampson took a visit to Baylor over the weekend, and he took the time to talk about his trip.

"I just got back, but I have been down there a whole bunch before."

When Sampson committed to the Baylor Bears, the head coach of the team was Guy Morriss. Now, there is a different staff and a different head coach, Art Briles. Here is what Sampson says about Baylor's new head man.

"Coach Briles is the coolest coach I have ever met, and he is the coolest coach I probably will ever meet. He is a player's coach. He tells it like it is, and he doesn't sugarcoat anything."

Sampson's sentiments extended to the new staff as well.

"The [new] staff is easier to talk to. They are players' coaches. You can just sit there and talk about anything. It is more like a family."

Dwain Crawford was Sampson's host for the visit, and Sampson mentions that a few other prep players were visiting Baylor this weekend, too.

"I saw Kendall Wright, Salubi, Daniel Thomas, and Robert Griffin was there. Robert Griffin is already enrolled in school."

With all the new changes, what is it about Baylor that Sampson likes so much?

"I like the players. That has a lot to do with it. They play in the big 12 and the type of offense they run has a lot to do with it too."

With signing day quickly approaching, Sampson talked about whether he is planning on visiting any more schools.

"I am done. I am done."
