With offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Troy, and Kansas, Marquise Franklin ended his recruitment over the weekend. He chose the Baylor Bears and gave one big reason for his choice.
"I committed to Baylor because the coaches really care."
Franklin tells BearsIllustrated.com that Baylor coaches Theo Young and Randy Clements were instrumental in his recruitment, and made him feel comfortable on his visit.
Franklin was a onetime Baylor recruit after his high school playing days at Tyler John Tyler High School. Franklin did take the JUCO route after high school, and after two years has turned his eyes back to the Baylor program. Franklin discusses the difference in the Baylor football program now compared to when he was recruited out of high school.
One of those recruits is fellow Blinn teammate and Baylor commit, Byron Landor. Franklin explains he will enjoy the prospects of having someone he knows on the team with him at Baylor.
"It makes me feel a little bit better. I don't really have to get used to people. I will just hang out with Landor all day."
Franklin, a 3 star prospect, plans on starting immediately on the offensive line at tackle. Franklin explained that the potential of former Baylor Bears offensive tackle Jason Smith being drafted in the 1st round of the NFL Draft was a factor in his decision to commit to Baylor.
"That just goes to show me that I can do the same thing."
Franklin explains that he is a versatile linemen that can both run block and pass block successfully. The talented offensive lineman explains that his favorite part of the game is contact. As far as how solid his commitment to Baylor is?
"It is solid. It is a done deal."
