Okonofua Not Ruling Waco Out

A 6'3" 235 pound defensive end running a 4.7 is high on every coach's wish list. And while Mack Brown may have a hand up for now on potential play maker Peter Okonofua, the exceptional recruiting skills of the Baylor coaching staff are keeping the Bears in the conversation.

Okonofua has no hard offers as of yet which gives Baylor the chance to possibly land a prospect that is, at least for now, leaning toward Austin. Waco might be a great fit for Okonofua who says he values a tight-knit community in his decision.

"Right now I like Texas. The environment is real family oriented."

The bears are by no means off the radar though, Okonofua has been impressed by Baylor as well.

"They're up there too."

Baylor was able to court Okonofua at a recent Junior Day where he said he was impressed by his experience.

"It was a nice camp. They've got a lot of new equipment. Its also a really good school."

The Baylor coaches also did their part to make Baylor an attractive option for Peter.

"They were real down to earth. They get after it in the weight room."

For now the the jockeying for Okonofua's servives goes on as he had this to say about when he plans to reach a decision.

"It depends. If I really like someone this spring I might commit early but otherwise I'll probably wait till my senior year to make any big decisions."
