Central Texas DT Makes Early Pledge

Recruiting the defensive line is always a challenge for college football coaches, so schools always count it as a major plus to get on a talented guy early. Trevor Valdez, one such talented defensive lineman, decided to make his commitment known early.

Trevor Valdez is a 6'2", 260lb defensive tackle from Copperas Cove, Texas. The talented junior decided to make his college decision known early - by committing to the Baylor Bears.

"I really want to be part of something special at Baylor," said Valdez. And with plenty of time to keep growing and maturing, the 2nd team all district performer can certainly bring something special to the Baylor program. Valdez said he expects to keep improving and do much better than 2nd team all district in his senior season.

Valdez noted that he is receiving heavy interest from Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, and TCU, but that he was honord to be one of the first juniors offered by Baylor. It was just a few years ago, that a certain superstar of the Baylor football team - Robert Griffin - also decided to commit to the Bears from the Cove football program. That certainly won't hurt the Bears in terms of keeping Valdez's commitment as other teams come calling.
