Bonaventure HS LB Jalen Jefferson (Ventura, CA) recently narrowed his list to three and Boise State made the cut. Now the talented LB is all set for his senior season as they open with Long Beach Poly in week one. What are his thoughts on the Broncos? "I like that they're ranked high," he said. "I might could win a national championship there and they have two seniors leaving from the spot I play," he added.

LBs Coach Bob Gregory has been working hard on the recruiting trail over the past few months. He recently brought De La Salle LB Blake Renaud into the fold and now he's looking to add another talented LB to the 2011 class. "Coach Gregory is recruiting me," Jefferson said. "He's a real fired up guy. He's always pumped up when I talk to him and real positive."

Head Coach Chris Petersen spoke to Jalen just prior to the big game this past Monday. He told the standout LB that he wants to see him in Blue and Orange next season. "I spoke to Coach Petersen a couple days before the game," he said. "He said I'm at the top of their board and he wants me to commit to them."

The Broncos made waves last Monday night with their victory over Virginia Tech. Winning big games like that can only help when it comes to recruiting. "That game was intense," he stated. "I knew they were going to pull it off when they got the ball back. It just shows that they're a powerhouse and I think they'll bring in more recruits because of that win."

Jefferson (6'3, 205, 4.5) has a solid top three that consists of Boise State, Cal, and Washington. He feels narrowing his list to three schools will also allow him to focus a bit more on his senior season as they prepare for powerhouse Long Beach Poly in week one. "This will allow me to focus on my senior season. I'll probably wait until the season is over to take my visits," he said. "We've got Long Beach Poly this Friday. They score a lot on big plays. I've just got to go out there, do my job, and trust that my teammates will be there," he added.

What does Jefferson bring to the field? "I'm a ball-hog," he said. "I'm not like other LBs since I also rotate to safety. I'm a sure tackler too."

In 2009, Jefferson racked up 70 tackles, 6 sacks, and had 1 INT return for a TD.
