Bishop Kelly ATH Cody McCarthy (Boise, ID) and his teammates have gotten off to a fast start as they are currently 3-0 on the season. It's business as usual for the talented ATH and news on the recruiting front has started to pick up as well.

Offensive Coordinator Bryan Harsin and LBs Coach Bob Gregory will attend a Bishop Kelly game in a few weeks and get a close look at the standout ATH. What they'll see is an ATH that goes full speed for sixty minutes and one that plays every snap on both sides of the ball. "I spoke to Coach Harsin last night and Coach Gregory about a week ago," McCarthy said. "They'll be coming to see me play in a few weeks and told me they were excited about it. Coach Harsin is excited to see me play FB."

Most of Cody's (6'1, 228, 4.6) recruitment centered around him playing LB just a short while ago. He certainly could end up playing that position, but Boise State has a long history of turning LBs into FBs as well. The same mentality is needed to play both positions. One has to be physical and know his assignment at all times. "I'm really physical," he stated. "I'm athletic enough to run out of the backfield, catch the ball, and get yards. I run the ball on a pretty regular basis."

Off-season preparation is the key to playing on both sides of the ball. "It all starts in the off-season," he said. "You got to stay hydrated. I'd say nutrition is the biggest thing for me. You've got to eat right."

Washington, Washington State, Air Force, and North Carolina continue to show interest as well. More offers could be on the way soon if McCarthy continues to perform at the level he is right now. "I'm not expecting any new offers right now. I think they'll come if I continue to play well," he said. "That's really all I can control. I'm focused on helping my team and winning a state championship," he added.

Through three games, McCarthy has 2 TDs, 1 INT, 2 forced fumbles, 40 tackles, and 2 sacks.
