Despite a streak of injuries and bad luck recently, Boise State was able to win at Hawai'i for the first time in program history. Shannon Saxton scored three goals to lead the Lady Broncos to a 4-0 win last night.

Boise State's soccer team finally tasted victory with a 4-0 shutout of Hawai'i last night in Oahu. Shannon Saxton scored a hat trick to get the Broncos the much-needed victory in the Western Athletic Conference openers for both teams.

Saxton opened the scoring in the 15th minute and Coach Steve Lucas's team notched two goals in an 80-second span late in the half to go up 3-0 heading into the break. Saxton booted home a goal at the 37:36 mark and freshman Rebe Wolverton followed up with another shot that hit the target. Saxton completed the scoring with a second-half goal.

Boise State was able to score their first-ever win on the islands in six tries. Boise State advanced their record to 4-7-1 overall while Hawai'i is 2-9-1. The Broncos hope to have a huge crowd next week when they host New Mexico State Friday afternoon at 4 and Louisiana Tech Saturday at 1 p.m. Both games are at the Boas Soccer Complex off of Boise Avenue.
