Lady Broncos Survive Against Sacramento State

Boise State's women's basketball team took a late punch from Sacramento State and responded down the stretch to pull out a 73-68 win yesterday afternoon in Taco Bell Arena.

Kati Isham scored a career-high 22 points as Boise State edged Sacramento State 73-68 yesterday afternoon in Taco Bell Arena.

Sacramento State had reeled off a 10-0 run to tie the game at 68 with 45 seconds remaining.  But Janie Bos followed with a three-pointer with 17 seconds remaining as the Lady Broncos pulled out the home victory.

Isham was three-of-seven from three-point range in the first half and led the Broncos with 11 points at intermission.  Nevertheless, the Hornets led 33-31 and Coach Gordy Presnell's group needed to come out of the locker room focused.

The second half was hard-fought as well, with Boise State up 44-43 and 12 minutes to play.  Nicole Brady, Isham and Lauren Lenhardt nailed consecutive three-pointers to extend the lead to 53-46.  Boise State pushed their advantage to 12 at 64-52 when Bos canned a short jumper with 4:44 left.

The Hornets stormed back.  With the score 68-58, Sami Field-Polisso hit two threes and another basket in the furious rally to tie the game.  A Presnell timeout set up a shot for Isham.  When the Hornets denied the opportunity, rather than force the shot, Isham passed to a wide-open Bos at the top of the key.  The senior delivered the blow as the shot rang true.  A Hornet turnover and two free throws from Cinnamon Lister later, the Broncos were celebrating their seventh win of the season against three defeats.

Boise State 's long-range skill helped them out in this one, converting on 7 of 13 shots from beyond the arc.  Bos recorded her third straight double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Brady stepped up with a career-high 11 points while Lenhardt had 10 points, seven rebounds and a blocked shot.
Tika Koshiyama-Diaz and Field-Polisso paced the Hornets with 17 points each while Kylie Kuhns had 11 points and nine rebounds.
Sacramento State falls to 3-8 on the season.

Boise State takes on Weber State next Saturday in Ogden with a contest against Utah Valley set for the following Monday.
