Punahou School ATH KT Tuumalo (Honolulu, HI) is one of the top remaining targets on the Boise State recruiting board. The Bronco coaching staff received a big commitment on Signing Day 2010 from Jeremy Ioane and they're back at Punahou looking for more in 2011.

Tuumalo has a top four that includes Boise State, Oregon State, Arizona, and Colorado. He has visited three of those four schools (Colorado) and Boise State is in excellent shape at this point in time. "I feel Boise is going somewhere," he said. "They have a pretty good lineup, history shows progress, and they know what they want to do with me," he added.

v KT took his official visit to Boise State in early November as he watched the Broncos defeat Hawaii by a score of 42-7 on The Blue. Jeremy Ioane was Tuumalo's host and offered him some words of wisdom on the recruiting process. "Well, Jeremy told me when he first went to Boise it was really hard for him being away from home. He said the people made him feel at home and comforted him," he stated. "It was good having him as my host since I know he's a guy I can trust. It'd be pretty cool if we ended up playing together in Boise and representing the Polynesians."

Head Coach Chris Petersen is personally handling the recruitment of Tuumalo. "I spoke to Coach Petersen yesterday. I actually speak to him a lot," he said. "He always calls and says how much the Broncos would love to have me up there. What I like is how he doesn't place himself on a different level than his players. He keeps it as a family with no rankings or anything like that."

Boise State is recruiting Tuumalo as a Nickelback and he feels that position is perfectly suited for his strengths on defense. All the other schools are recruiting him as an OLB, but he likes the "freedom" that goes along with being a Nickelback in the 4-2-5 alignment. "Well, in Boise's Nickel you get to blitz off the edge a lot," Tuumalo said. "I like to run around and cover ground. Boise's defense is also built around the Nickel spot. It's a real important position on their defense," he added.

KT (6'2, 210) is looking at what each school has to offer and will commit when he feels comfortable. "I'm not really sure when I'll commit. It'll be when I'm comfortable," he said. "I've been talking about it with my parents and trying to figure a couple things out. It has a lot to do with my family."

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on KT Tuumalo.
