Broncos Open WAC Campaign with a Win

Boise State shot out to a big lead en route to a 71-60 victory over Louisiana Tech last night. The Broncos host New Mexico State Friday night.

Boise State's basketball team exploded out of the gate to a 20-2 lead and defeated Louisiana Tech 71-60 last night in Taco Bell Arena. The game was the Western Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Unlike the Utah game prior to Christmas, the Broncos did not relinquish their big lead this time. Coach Leon Rice's team held Tech to a season low at halftime, carrying a 36-14 lead into intermission. The Bulldogs could not get closer than 14 points until the final minutes. Sharpshooter Paul Noonan hit for a season-high 23 points to pace the Broncos and nailed six three-pointers. La'Shard Anderson backed him up with 11 points, eight assists and a career high seven rebounds.

DeAndre Brown led Tech with 24 points while Ashaolu Olu had 15 points and 10 boards.

Boise State is now 8-5 on the season while Louisiana Tech falls to 9-6. The Broncos host New Mexico State in a New Year's Eve contest at 5 p.m.
