Rice Has Boise Buzzing With Excitement

Boise State completed a road sweep last night with a convincing 79-55 win over Hawai'i to move their WAC record to 4-0.

A new head coach isn't supposed to be headed into a showdown of undefeated league teams four games into the conference season. But that's exactly the path that Boise State Head Coach Leon Rice has his team on following a 79-55 road win at Hawai'i last night.

The Broncos erased a halftime deficit with consistent shooting, teamwork and strong defense to move their Western Athletic Conference record to 4-0. Perennial power Utah State comes into Boise next Thursday night. Hawai'i used a 17-3 run to pull ahead 19-12 and never trailed from that point going into the locker room. However, Coach Rice's team clamped down, holding the Warriors without a field goal for nearly nine minutes and built a 24-point lead.

Boise State won on the Islands for the third time in 10 tries. La'Shard Anderson led the Broncos with 20 points on 7-12 shooting and a career-high five 3-pointers. Freshman forward Thomas Bropleh contributed career-highs of 14 points and eight rebounds and Daequon Montreal had 10 points and seven boards.

The Lady Broncos tip off at against San Jose State Thursday at 6 p.m. with the men's clash against Utah State following at about 8:15 in Taco Bell Arena.
