In-Home Visit Report: Blake Renaud

De La Salle LB Blake Renaud (Concord, CA) has been a hot topic of conversation among Bronco fans ever since he pledged to Boise State last summer. Much of that is due to his physical nature on defense and his leadership ability as well. He recently had an in-home visit with the Bronco coaching staff and he spoke to BroncoCountry.com about that experience.

De La Salle LB Blake Renaud (Concord, CA) has been a hot topic of conversation among Bronco fans ever since he pledged to Boise State last summer. Much of that is due to his physical nature on defense and his leadership ability as well. He recently had an in-home visit with the Bronco coaching staff, but most of the conversation wasn't centered on football.

"Coach Petersen, Coach Strausser, and Coach Gregory came by for a visit about two weeks ago," he said. "It's pretty cool since you watch Boise and see them on TV, but the next thing you know they're in your house. We watched one of the Bowl Games and it was cool talking to them. We mainly just talked about how things will be run once I get on campus, what to expect, and things like that. It was kind of funny since we didn't talk a lot about football."

Renaud's parents are quite happy with their son's college decision. As a matter of fact, Blake says they're "on cloud nine."

"My parents enjoyed talking to them too," he stated. "They're real happy about my decision. They're on cloud nine and they think anything the coaches say is the greatest thing ever."

Blake will be in Boise this weekend for his official visit and he's hoping to meet a few of his future teammates while in town.

"I want to see the players, mostly the school as well," Renaud said. "The players were just coming in when I was last there and school wasn't in, so I didn't get to see the campus atmosphere. I'm looking forward to seeing that this time."

Renaud's class wrapped up their De La Salle career having won two State Championships. Looking back, the 2010 Spartans exemplified the word "team."

"It's hard to say what made this team different. I just felt like we were really committed as a whole," he said. "This is one of the smaller teams we've had in a while and we didn't have as much depth as in years past. Everyone knew they had a chance and the whole team was focused. It's cool to be a part of something like that."

Blake (6'2, 235) says his goal is to arrive on campus weighing a "solid" 245.

"I'm just doing my regular workouts. I did squats, shoulders, and abs today," he said. "You know, I'm just doing what I did when I was playing football. My goal is to get to 245, but I want to be a solid 245," he added.
