Pearland HS DE Samuel Ukwuachu (Pearland, TX) signed with Boise State last week as a member of the 2011 recruiting class and wrapped up his HS career in style as he and his teammates finished a perfect 16-0. So, what's next for the future Bronco?

"I'm running track," he said. "I'm just going to continue to workout and get bigger, stronger, and faster. I'd like to get my strength and body weight up too."

Ukwuachu was in high demand right up until Signing Day and says a few schools tried to jump in when the coaching rumors were swirling.

"Some schools were still trying to recruit me," he stated. "TCU, Texas A&M, and Utah tried to recruit me when some were thinking that Coach Petersen was going to leave. I said I had no interest whatsoever in any other school."

As a senior, the talented DE anchored a strong D-line for the Oilers. They struggled a bit early in the season, but managed to do just enough to win. They improved greatly as the season progressed and Samuel says it was all due to the chemistry.

"We started a little slow on defense, but we came together as a team and unit. You got to have that trust and chemistry," Ukwuachu said. "That's how a strong team is built. My senior season is one I'll remember for a long time."

Ukwuachu says the media never jumped on the Pearland bandwagon and continued to doubt them throughout the season. Their mission was to prove the doubters wrong and they definitely succeeded.

"We were picked third in our own district. Everybody picked us to lose every big game the whole season," he said. "We knew we could win all the games since we had come close before. It was simply a matter of us playing hard and executing when we had to."

What can Bronco fans expect to see from Samuel Ukwuachu?

"I'm ready to work hard," he said. "They can expect to see someone that flies to the ball, practices hard, and has a good work ethic," he added.

In 2010, Ukwuachu (6'5, 211, 4.6) racked up 70 tackles and 10 sacks for the Pearland defense.
