Broncos Host Austin Peay in CBI Tourney

Tonight's CBI Tournament game is a game of firsts for both teams. The first time Boise State and Austin Peay have met on the court, the first time Boise State has hosted a CBI Tournament game, the first time the Governors have been in the CBI Tourney, and the first time that one of these teams will advance to the 2nd round of the CBI Tourney.. but which team will it be?

Boise State will participate in their 2nd CBI Tournament game tonight, having played in the 2009 CBI Tourney. The Broncos fell to Stanford in Palo Alto by a score of 79-96, but hope to fare better this time out.

The Broncos have been riding a hot streak, having put together 8 conference wins in a row before losing to USU in the WAC Championship game.

Austin Peay finished the regular season in a tie for second place in the Ohio Valley Conference with Morehead State and entered the OVC tourney as the 3rd seed, eventually falling to Morehead 68-49.

Austin Peay has had 11 days to recuperate since that loss, but that still might not be enough time for their leading scorer, Tyshawn Edmondson who suffered an injury in the conference quarterfinal. He is listed as doubtful for tonight's game.

It would appear that the Broncos hold the advantage for tonight's matchup, Austin Peay is without their leading scorer, traveled all day yesterday to arrive in Boise, and doesn't have the overall depth or height to matchup with the Broncos.. but this is a scrappy Governor's team that pushed a ranked Memphis team on their home floor to overtime before falling by only 2.

Boise State will need to shrug off their poor shooting from the USU game if they want to hold home court and advance to face the winner of the Hofstra/Evansville game.
