La Habra HS LB Aaron Porter (La Habra, CA) picked up his sixth offer last week as Boise State became the latest school to extend an offer to the talented LB. He says he's wide open, but is also familiar with the Boise State program having visited The Blue last season for the home game against Toledo.

"I have always liked Boise State," he said. "They invited me and gave me tickets to the game against Toledo last season. I enjoyed it a lot."

"They offered me last Friday," he stated. "I guess I kind of knew it was coming since I had been talking to them a lot lately. Coach Petersen just talked a lot about the campus and everything. He actually didn't know I had already been up there for a game. That kind of surprised him."

Porter says he's a big fan of the Bronco defense. He feels the "attacking" style fits his strengths quite well.

"I like their defense a lot," said Porter. "They have real good coaches there and are a winning program. I like how they attack the ball and swarm to it. They just all attack the ball at once. That's a defense I'd like to play in."

"I was talking to Coach Gregory just a couple days ago," he said. "He likes my speed and how I have a nose for the ball. I just shed the blocks, get in there, and make a tackle."

In recent years, the La Habra Highlanders have established themselves as a strong and consistent program as they have won four straight CIF titles. Porter says they lost a lot of talent coming off yet another championship season, but they should be a force to be reckoned with once again.

"We start spring ball in about a month," he said. "The team is looking pretty good, but I'm not sure if we'll be as good as we were last year. We lost a lot of seniors from that team and we have to replace Cody (Clements) at QB as well. Overall, I still think we can contend for a division title, but we'll need to grow as a team."

What does Porter (6'2, 230, 4.7) bring to the gridiron?

"I'm big, fast, and strong," he said. "I also believe I'm a sure-tackler and a leader as well," he added.

As a junior, Porter racked up 156 tackles, 11 sacks, and 2 INTs. He was also honored as CIF Defensive Player of the Year for his outstanding junior season.
