Klein HS LB Ben Weaver (Klein, TX) had no offers just a month ago and has since reeled in a total of eight over the past two weeks. On Monday, Boise State became the latest school to put an offer on the table.

"Coach Choate offered me on Monday and I got to speak with Coach Pete for ten minutes today," he said. "Coach Choate had come by my school last Thursday and said he really liked me. Then he called me on Monday while I was at practice, so I called him back right afterwards. That's when he offered me."

"It was an honor to talk to Coach Pete," he stated. "I didn't have any offers just a month ago and was wondering if any school would want me. Now a month later I'm talking to Coach Pete at Boise State. It's just a once in a lifetime thing and I'm just trying to do the best I can with it. Coach Pete wants to get me down there so I can check out the campus and everything. I told him I'm very interested in Boise State."

"They're definitely a winning program," he said in regards to Boise State. "That's exactly what I want. They also need more depth at LB since they're a little thin and told me I could come in and compete right away. It's an awesome school. They always seem to have a great defense."

Weaver also holds offers from Louisville, Utah, McNeese State, Air Force, Navy, Houston, and Texas State. He says he's wide open right now, but would like to commit sometime before his senior season.

"I'm just taking it as it comes right now," said Weaver. "I'm not really evaluating schools too much yet. I plan to do that right after spring ball. My goal is to give my verbal sometime this summer. I just want to be able to focus on winning during my senior season."

The Klein Bearcats finished the 2010 campaign with an 8-4 record. They're now in the second week of spring ball and the talented LB says expectations are high heading into 2011.

"I expect us to be better this year. We return a lot of starters," he said. "I'm just glad to be back in pads and getting to work. I plan on being the leader of this defense and taking us as far as I can."

What does Weaver (6'1, 225, 4.71) bring to the gridiron?

"I'm definitely a good inside backer," he said. "I'm a good open field tackler, can stop the run, get off my blocks, and make a tackle from anywhere on the field," he added.

As a junior, Weaver had 85 tackles, 3 sacks, and 1 INT.
