Bellevue HS OL Marcus Henry (Bellevue, WA) signed with Boise State back in February as a member of the 2011 recruiting class and was on campus last month for the annual Spring Game on The Blue. How was the trip to Boise?

"It was really fun," he said. "What I enjoyed most was meeting all my fellow recruits. It looks like I'll probably end up rooming with Adam Sheffield. He seems to be a real cool guy."

"I paid very close attention to the O-line," he stated. "It's still kind of hard to judge an O-line based on its performance in the Spring Game. The defense is always ahead of the offense in the early going since they get to just run around and play as individuals."

Looking back, the recruiting process for Marcus Henry (6'3, 285) went smooth and easy until the last couple weeks. An offer from the hometown Huskies in early January had him weighing his options, but his official visit to Boise State a couple weeks later sealed the deal for the Broncos.

"I really gelled with the guys already on the team and the other recruits that were up there," said Henry. "I'd say that's what put Boise State over the top. The family atmosphere was outstanding. You'd see sophomores hanging out with seniors and there weren't any 'cliques.' That's what I really liked. It reminded me a lot of Bellevue."

"My girlfriend goes to UW, but she encouraged me to go to Boise State since they had been recruiting me longer," he said. "My family also loved the campus and everything on the visit. They all think it's a real good fit for me."

The future Bronco has been going full steam over the past couple months. He says the workouts are going great and he's making a lot of progress.

"I'm up to 285. I've put on 15 pounds of muscle," he said. "I'm working out with a former UW O-lineman and we've been putting in a lot of work. We do power cleans, footwork drills, pull-ups, squats, you name it."

"I feel a lot stronger now," he said. "I'm just counting down the days until I get up there. I'll be there on June 26th. I'd say I'm nervous and excited at the same time. It's just going to be a completely different thing once I get to college. Everything will be new."

Most freshmen arrive on campus not knowing what they want to major in, but that's not the case with Marcus Henry.

"I think I'll stick with Business," he said. "I know you can go into a lot of different fields from there," he added.
