Klein HS LB Ben Weaver (Klein, TX) became the tenth verbal commitment for the 2012 Boise State recruiting class on Saturday night when he decided to end his recruitment and commit to the Broncos. The talented LB visited Boise State last week and says the family atmosphere is what put them over the top.

"I think the players sold me," he said. "Me and my dad were watching one of their player-run practices and they all just came up and started talking to me. You could see that they all enjoyed being there and that they were friends. It was really nice to see."

"I knew I preferred Boise when I compared them to Cal," he stated. "I figured it would be between Boise and Tech. Tech has a great football team, but they just aren't the caliber of Boise. Boise's record speaks for itself and they're always in big Bowl Games too. It's all about winning."

"Saturday was my dad's birthday and I told my whole family I was planning on committing to Boise State," said Weaver. "So, I called Coach Petersen, told him, and he said it was the best part of his summer yet. What I like about him is how he's not just a great coach, but a great person too. It really felt like a family while I was up there."

Boise State likes Weaver (6'1, 225, 4.71) at MLB and he says the 4-2-5 alignment is a perfect fit.

"The 4-2-5 allows you to move the LBs around a lot," he said. "You can blitz nonstop and that's the fun part of football. It's a fun game when you can constantly go all-out on every play. That defense will be perfect for me."

"Everyone knows Boise State has a great offense, but the defense is great too," said Weaver. "I also like knowing that I could come in and start fast. That was my number one thing and it's incredible to know I could come in and play early. I want to be able to earn playing time right away."

The talented LB says he's 100% committed to Boise State and can now focus on preparing for his senior season.

"You can always get better," he said. "I want to get bigger, faster, stronger, and just better at everything," he added.

As a junior, Weaver had 85 tackles, 3 sacks, and 1 INT.

He chose Boise State over offers from Texas Tech, California, Air Force, Arizona, Louisville, Utah, Navy, Houston, McNeese State, and Texas State.
