Steele Canyon HS ATH Chanceller James (Spring Valley, CA) named Boise State as his leader just about a month ago and the talented ATH still has the Broncos out in front. James just recently scheduled his first official visit as well, to Boise State.

"Boise State is still my leader," he said. "The coaching staff has really helped me throughout my recruitment. They've been helping me get better as a player and as a person. I like their approach and the way they recruit. They aren't one of those that just tell you how great their school is or anything like that."

"I grew up a UCLA fan, but I always liked Boise State," he stated. "They're a real good team and I've been watching them since they beat Oklahoma in that Fiesta Bowl. I love watching them play."

"I actually just scheduled my official visit to Boise. I'll be up there August 19-21," said James. "I want to look at the surroundings, the city, and really sit down with the coaches. I want to major in Kinesiology, so I'll be interested to learn more about that as well."

Defensive Coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski offered James back in May and has been recruiting him hard ever since.

"Coach K is recruiting me," he said. "I like that he's easy to talk to and laughs a lot. We don't just talk about football. We talks about all sorts of things. He has really helped me throughout my recruitment."

Academics will play a big role in James' college decision.

"I'm looking at the academics and APR," said James. "I want to see which schools graduate their players. I'm also looking for a school that has my major and I'd prefer a school with somewhat small classes too. That way it's easier to get help should I need it."

Last season, the Steele Canyon Cougars finished the year with a 10-2 record. That's an outstanding season, but the talented ATH says their goal in 2011 is to go undefeated.

"We lost a lot of seniors, but our expectations are to go undefeated," he said. "We have a lot of young players that need to step up. We'll have a great season if our young players play to their ability."

What does James (6'2, 190, 4.6) bring to the gridiron?

"On offense, I can catch the ball really well and can take a hit," he said. "On defense, I'm a big hitter with good awareness on the field," he added.

As a junior, he had 499 yards receiving and 5 TDs on offense. On defense, he had 100+ tackles.

James currently has offers from Boise State, Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, San Diego State, New Mexico, Eastern Washington, and Air Force.
