Cypress Creek HS RB Devan Demas (Houston, TX) verbally committed to Boise State back in June and is off to a great start in 2011 with 330 rushing yards and 6 TDs through two games. His goal for his senior year is 2,000 yards and he believes this year's team can compete for a State Championship.

"We're looking pretty good," he said. "We won 21-17 in our first game and then 41-6 last week. It's great to get off to a fast start with so many young players on this team."

"I think we can compete for a State Championship as long as the O-line stays healthy," he stated. "We've got three new starters at O-line so that's a big key. We'll keep pushing it as long as they stay healthy."

"I'd say the biggest difference for me is the maturity level between last year and this year," said Demas. "I'm much more of a leader this year compared to last year. We've got a brand new QB this year, so I had to step into that position."

On the recruiting front, Demas says he's still 100% committed to Boise State and will be in Boise on October 1st for his official visit.

"I talk to Coach Choate or Coach B regularly," he said. "We just set-up my official and everything last week. I'll be up there for the Nevada game."

"I can't wait to get up there and see that atmosphere," said Demas. "I want to see the fans and how the team responds coming off that loss last year."

Looking back, Demas says the coaching staff played a big role in his decision to become a Bronco.

"It was mostly the coaching staff," he said. "The atmosphere was also very welcoming when I went up there and I felt right at home. Also, the coaching style is a perfect fit for me. I can run downhill, outside the line, and also line-up in the slot. It's a great fit for me."

What about that win over Georgia?

"The fact that they kept running the ball even though the defense was stopping it really impressed me," he said. "They kept running it and gaining those tough yards. Overall, it was a real good game and I liked how they moved the RBs around in the offense."
