Leland HS ATH Christopher Santini (San Jose, CA) verbally committed to Boise State back in August and received a visit from his future Head Coach on Tuesday evening as Chris Petersen stopped by for an in-home visit. He brought OL Coach Chris Strausser along with him and the three discussed everything from the depth chart to the practice schedule.

"Coach Pete and Coach Strausser just left about ten minutes ago," he said with a laugh. "Coach Gregory was also here last Tuesday," he added.

"What I like is how they make you feel 100% comfortable around them," he stated. "They got here at around 5:30 or 6 pm and we talked for a bit before dinner. We ate and then talked about the practice schedule, depth chart at LB, and just ran through some things."

"My dad loved it as much as I did," said Santini. "I just kind of sat back and let him do the talking."

The future Bronco says Chris Petersen's character is what stands out to him most.

"Coach Pete has great character," he said. "He's a great coach, but he's also someone you can trust. He has done so many great things and you know he'll help you do great things too. That's what stands out to me."

"He also touched on the Big East stuff," said Santini. "He mentioned that they'll get a lot more time on ESPN now in the Big East. He definitely seemed happy about that and said this will allow us to expand the fanbase to more places."

Looking back, the winning tradition at Boise State played a big role in Santini's decision to become a Bronco.

"The atmosphere and the winning," he said. "Just knowing that there's great things to come over the next few years and that they'll continue to be successful. That was the big thing for me."

"I'm 100% committed."

Santini and his teammates wrapped up their season a few weeks ago with a loss in the first round of the state playoffs. Leland finished the 2011 campaign with a 9-2 record and the talented ATH says he's happy with those results.

"The biggest thing I'll take from it is just the experience," he said. "Now I've had a full year at LB and I've gotten comfortable with the position. I know I'll be going up against much better talent at Boise State, but I'm comfortable with the position now. That'll help me."

The coaching staff will send out a packet just after Signing Day and Santini (6'1, 218) says he's eager to get started.

"They're going to send me a packet right after Signing Day," he said. "Obviously, I'm going to try to exceed those and then go workout with my team for conditioning stuff. I'll have enough to keep me busy."

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Christopher Santini.
