Americas HS RB Jack Fields (El Paso, TX) verbally committed to Boise State over the summer and will receive a visit from his future Head Coach next Wednesday as Chris Petersen will stop by for an in-home visit. He'll also bring (RBs Coach) Keith Bhonapha with him. Needless to say, the future Bronco is excited.

"Coach Petersen is coming next Wednesday," he said. "He's going over to the school first, talk to coach, administrators, and then later that day he and Coach Bhonapha will be coming over to the house. We'll have dinner and talk about the program."

"It's definitely going to be a unique experience," he stated. "You see him on TV, admire him as a coach, and then seeing him at your house shows it's really happening, that I'm getting closer to Boise State. As a sophomore or freshman, you don't watch Boise State games and then expect to play for the man. It will be an awesome experience."

"My parents are excited," said Fields. "Both my mom and dad want to give them a good meal and are very appreciative that I have the opportunity to play football there. It's exciting."

Robert Prince was named the new Offensive Coordinator on Thursday afternoon. Once again, that NFL experience and having coached at "the highest level" appears to be a big selling point with the current commits.

"He's an awesome coach," he said. "I'm so impressed with what he's done with Tyler Shoemaker and Matt Miller and I know he can do that with the rest of the offense. I'm really looking forward to it. We're going to have a potent offense and put up a lot of points. He has coached at the highest level and that will only help us on the field."

"I'm 100% committed."

Jack has become a "student of the game" since the 2011 season ended in late November. He recorded a number of Boise State games from this past season and says he intends to study Doug Martin's on-field performance and see what he can implement to his own game.

"Both of the coaches have compared me a bit to Doug Martin," said Fields. "They feel I'm a unique RB with the skills I have and I'd like to compare myself to Doug Martin. I've recorded some of their games so I can study exactly what he does on the field."

"I remember he (Martin) recognized that you can't run East and West. You got to run North and South," he said. "You got to give that guy a shake and then get up-field. There's just too much speed out there unless you're a Reggie Bush or a guy like that."

Under Chris Petersen, the Broncos have now finished in the Top 10 four times in his six year tenure.

"That just shows one of the main reasons why I want to be a Boise State Bronco," he said. "They've been consistent throughout the years and they don't rebuild, they reload. Other guys will step-up and we'll continue to win."

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Jack Fields.
