Mead HS ATH Danny Mattingly (Spokane, WA) has picked up five new offers in the last week and more could be on the way soon as a number of schools have been showing interest, including Boise State. The talented ATH is one of the best the Evergreen State has to offer for the 2013 class and his stock will only go up from here.

"It's been nuts," he said. "I was really happy when Washington offered, but then Utah and Washington State offered me right after that. It has been a crazy few days."

"Boise State and UCLA have been showing interest too," he said. "Honestly, I think UCLA might offer by the end of the week," he added. (UCLA did offer Mattingly)

"For Boise State, I got a message on Facebook from their Defensive Coordinator," he stated. "Basically, he was just letting me know that they're really interested and things like that. He also asked me to call him, but he didn't leave a number. I'm hoping I can speak to him soon."

Mattingly's coach will also be down in Boise this weekend and apparently the Boise State staff has asked him to stop by while he's in town.

"My coach is going down to Boise this weekend," said Mattingly. "He has spoken to the coaches at Boise State a few times and I know they've asked him to stop by while he's down there. I think they want to talk to him about me."

The past few days have been quite hectic for Mattingly, but he says he's in no rush and plans to take his time as he goes through the recruiting process.

"I'm definitely not going to rush into a decision," he said. "I'm going to find the school that fits me best. Some things I'm looking for are location since I don't want to be too far, academics, and just the school that is right for me. I'll commit when I feel comfortable with a certain school."

"I'm definitely going to try to go to Junior Days at Boise State, Washington, Washington State, and UCLA."

So, what does the standout ATH like about each school?

Washington - "I really like the coaching there...that appeals to me. They offer a great education too and I know my parents like that."

Utah - "They have a gamplan for me should I decide to go there. They know what position they want me to play and everything. It's all ready for me."

Washington State - "That's basically like a hometown for me. Andy went there, my sister goes there now, and a lot of my family are longtime Coug fans."

UCLA - "I've heard the school is awesome. Their 2012 class was also like the 9th rated class. I think they'll make a big turnaround under the new coaching staff."

Boise State - "There's just something about that school. I have a bunch of friends that go there and they all love it. The 'smurf turf' is awesome and I know it gets crazy there on game-day."

In the meantime, he's preparing for the upcoming baseball season.

"I've been working out a lot," he said. "I'm just getting ready for baseball right now," he added.
