College of San Mateo LB Justin Sagote (San Mateo, CA) just reeled in offers from San Diego State and Purdue in the past week, but a number of other schools have also been showing interest, including Boise State. The Boise State staff has signed a number of recruits in the period following Signing Day, but could they add one more to that list? Will Boise State offer?

"Boise (State) and Western Michigan have been mostly dealing with my coach," he said. "I haven't spoken to either of them too much, but my coach told me they are interested," he added.

"I know of two officials that I'm going to take right now," he stated. "I'm setting up a trip for next week to San Diego State and then Purdue sometime after that."

"Basically, all of this has come out of the blue for me," said Sagote. "I wasn't supposed to leave until after the summer, but we fixed all of that. I'll be graduating in May now."

Sagote hasn't spoken much with the staff at Boise State or Western Michigan, but each school has sent a coach down to San Mateo to speak with his coach.

"I know Boise and Western Michigan sent a coach down here," he said. "I believe it was Boise's LB Coach and Western Michigan's D-line Coach."

"They have a real aggressive team," he said in regards to Boise State. "They are always aggressive on defense. I'd like to play for a team with a bunch of hard workers like that. They never seem to have anyone slacking off."

Sagote didn't have too many options coming out of HS, but says going to San Mateo was a solid decision.

"Our school wasn't too high on the list of recruiters," he said. "I wasn't really thinking of going the JUCO route coming out of HS, but I knew this would be my best chance at getting to the next level. I'm real glad I came here now."

"I really didn't know much about football or the different coverages coming out of HS," said Sagote. "I know my assignments now and I've really improved my footwork. I've become a student of the game."

Sagote and his teammates finished the 2011 campaign with a solid 8-3 record. He says not winning the championship was a bit of a disappointment, but it was still a solid season.

"It was a good season," he said. "I was happy with how the season went. Not making it to the championship was a disappointment, but it was a good season for both the team and myself."

So, what does Justin Sagote (6'0, 220) bring to the gridiron?

"Basically, schools like that I have a motor and my mentality," he said. "I'm always going to go out there and give it my all. The size of the person I'm going up against doesn't matter to me at all."

Last season, he had 39 tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 INT.
