Leland HS ATH Christopher Santini (San Jose, CA) signed with Boise State last month as a member of the 2012 recruiting class and is hard at work preparing for his future as a Bronco. The talented ATH has an intense workout plan in place and says the possibility of early playing time continues to act as his motivation.

"I spoke to Coach Gregory about a week and a half ago," he said. "He was just checking in and told me he's going to send some film so I can start to learn the defense. It'll probably focus on the LBs at first and then more of the defensive scheme. I'm ready to start studying this stuff."

"I'm just training right now," he stated. "It's going good. I'm running about three times a week and lifting every single day. It's pretty intense. I plan on picking it up a bit more once I get to about two months away from leaving, but it's going well right now."

"I usually run and then lift," said Santini. "It's mostly about an hour or hour and a half of cone drills, endurance, footwork, and other stuff like that."

So, will the future Bronco see playing time as a true freshman next season? It's possible.

"I think I'm battling with Ben Weaver for that upper position," he said. "Me and him will be fighting for that. I think it's going to come down to who knows the scheme better on defense. The winner will likely play and the other will redshirt."

"Early playing time is probably my #1 motivation," said Santini. "The main thing I want to work on right now is the physical stuff and then focus on the actual defense when I get there."

Needless to say, he's ready to begin his career on The Blue.

"I just keep thinking it's one more day. I'm counting down the days," he said. "I'm really excited and ready to get up there. I was telling Adam Sheffield that I'm going to bring my bowling ball and it's going to be football, football, football, and then bowling for a little bit."

"I probably bowl just about every weekend."

Looking back, Santini (6'1, 223) says Boise State was always his #1, but he needed to go through the recruiting process just to make sure.

"From the beginning, they were #1," he said. "I just needed to look around and make sure. It's a great school, great team, great coaching staff, and they're all dedicated. It's perfect for me."

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Christopher Santini.
