Upland HS QB Nate Romine (Upland, CA) is still looking for that first offer, but a number of schools have been showing interest of late, including Boise State. The Broncos picked up a verbal commitment less than a month ago from Ryan Finley, but could a second QB be on the Boise State radar?

"I've spoken to both Coach Bhonapha and Coach Smith in the last couple weeks," he said. "Basically, they pretty much said that they like my film, but want to see me at camp before going any further," he added.

"I'm going to camp at Boise State," he stated. "I'm also going to go to Duke, Northwestern, Under Armour Showcase, and possibly a few others."

"It's about character building with Coach Pete," said Romine. "He's the type of guy that you want to play for and knowing that you'll be surrounded by good coaches, good people, is what I like most about Boise State."

Romine took an unofficial visit to The Blue last August and came away impressed with the program and everything it has to offer.

"The visit had a homely feel to it," he said. "I have relatives up there, but walking around campus you could feel the atmosphere. The campus was relatively smaller than some of the others that I've been to, but I liked that. It was a great day, great weather, and great atmosphere."

"I was able to sit down with Coach Pete and talk to him one-on-one," said Romine. "Honestly, I was just flabbergasted that he would sit down and talk to me about everything. I felt really comfortable asking him questions about Boise State and such."

In 2011, Romine and his teammates came up just short in their quest for a CIF Title. They finished the 2011 campaign with a 12-1 record, but expectations will remain just as high heading into 2012.

"It's sort of an up-and-coming team. We have some juniors that were behind great athletes last year," he said. "Mentally, we know what to do and how to be the best team we can be. We have a great coaching staff...they bring the best out of us."

"The thing I want most is a CIF Title for Upland," he said. "I think that's the highest goal we can achieve. Individually, I want to have the most fun I can have and hopefully find a college that will pay for my education."

So, what does Nate Romine (6'0, 185, 4.6) bring to the gridiron?

"I would say the big thing for me is ball security," he said. "I also play the game the way it should be played and I'm able to keep the play alive with my legs," he added.

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Nate Romine.
