Summit HS CB Donte Deayon (Fontana, CA) signed with Boise State as a member of the 2012 recruiting class in February and is currently preparing for his future as a Bronco. The talented CB just wrapped up track season and brought home two CIF Championships in the process, first place in both the 100M and 300M Hurdles.

"It was nice to win first place after finishing in second last year," he said. "Earlier this year, I didn't feel my times were as good, but I ran myself into shape," he added.

"Track has kept me in shape," he stated. "I've mostly focused on that for the past few months, but now I'm going to start working on footwork, reading the QB, stuff like that."

"I ran about a 4.5 during football season. I think I'm probably at a 4.4 or so right now."

Deayon also keeps in contact with new DBs Coach Jimmy Lake and says he's looking forward to meeting him soon.

"I talked to Coach Lake just recently. We were just catching up and seeing how things are going," he said. "I'm excited to learn from him and have him coach me. It'll be nice to meet him soon since we haven't met yet."

"I'm going to come in and get to work," said Deayon. "For football, I want to work on my technique, but for school I want to make sure I get my classes down and study hard."

Boise State offered Deayon's good friend and teammate (Charles Okonkwo) just a little over a month ago and the future Bronco has been in his ear about it ever since.

"Yeah, I've been in his ear," he said with a laugh. "I think Boise State is definitely one of his top schools. It would be great for us to play together in college."

"Boise State was my top team from the beginning," said Deayon. "I just loved everything about it and was sold right away. I really like the people, the city, everything was great."

"I'll be there on June 23rd for summer term."

So, what can Bronco fans expect to see from Donte Deayon?

"A team player," he said. "I'm going to lead by example, do the right thing, and will try to be the best person I can be," he added.
