West HS ATH Mat Boesen (Torrance, CA) currently has an offer from San Diego State, but a number of other schools could be on the verge of offering, including Boise State. The talented ATH was in Boise just two weeks ago for an unofficial visit and came away impressed with the program and all it had to offer. So, will Boise State offer?

"I think they might since they seem interested," he said. "Coach Gregory said he really likes my film," he added.

"We were up there two weeks ago," he stated. "We got to see everything. They gave us a tour of the school, saw the academic side, and had a meeting with Coach Petersen too."

"It was great to speak to Coach Petersen," said Boesen. "We had a good 35-40 minute conversation and the cool thing about Coach Pete is that it's not just football for him. He wants his players to graduate as well and go far in life."

He went on to describe the atmosphere in Boise as "comfortable."

"It was a comfortable atmosphere," he said. "They're a top notch program, very high class, and it was everything I expected and more. The players welcomed me and made me feel like I was part of the team."

"I got letters from all of them after the visit. I thought that was real nice."

Boesen currently plays DE and TE for West, but Boise State is recruiting him as a LB. He says he played LB as a freshman and feels he could also make an impact at the LB position at the college level.

"I definitely think I could play LB. I do a lot of stand-up stuff right now," said Boesen. "It would obviously take a little work since I haven't played that position since freshman year, but Coach Gregory thinks I could do it. That was good to hear."

Expectations are high for Boesen and his teammates heading into the 2012 season as many expect them to compete for (and possibly win) a CIF Championship.

"We came up just a couple games short last year," he said. "We only graduate seven seniors. Expectations are definitely high this year."

"Definitely a CIF contender," he said. "That's the goal for us this year."

So, what does Mat Boesen (6'4, 210) bring to the gridiron?

"I'm great with my hands," he said. "I have a good motor and I use my speed to get around the bigger guys," he added.

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Mat Boesen.
