Bingham HS LB Durrant Miles (South Jordan, UT) verbally committed to Boise State on Tuesday evening bringing the total to eight verbal commits for the 2013 class. The talented LB picked up an offer from Boise State on Monday and only needed 24 hours to make his college decision.

"I just got the offer yesterday," he said. "I was so pumped to get that offer and I talked it over with my parents and decided to commit today."

"It's the place for me," he stated. "I'm not sure what it is about Boise, but it's definitely the place for me. I loved everything about it from the time I went up for the Junior Day. I didn't know when I was going to commit, but I knew Boise State was the place."

"I absolutely love Coach Pete," said Miles. "He's just so personable. I went up there for the Junior Day and he was doing that Beat Coach Pete 5K run. He's always out in the community, signing autographs, and he's very approachable. He's a great coach and person."

Miles is LDS and says he will serve a two year mission before enrolling at Boise State.

"I'm going to take my mission," he said. "All the coaches asked me about that at the camp. They obviously don't deal with players taking a mission all that much. Basically, they told me they think I'm a great player and that they're willing to wait on the mission."

The future Bronco also held offers from Utah State, Hawaii, and Southern Utah, but says Utah also showed strong interest and an offer could have possibly come as early as Wednesday.

"I had a meeting scheduled with Coach Whittingham," he said. "I thought they were going to offer a while back but they never did," he added.

"I'm 100% committed."

Bingham has one of the top football programs in the State of Utah, but had a "down year" in 2011 as they lost three games. Durrant says this year's team is much more dedicated and they expect to compete for a state championship once again in 2012.

"The seniors are all 100% in," said Miles. "The attitude has changed a lot from last year to this year. Overall, the team is much more dedicated. We just have to keep humble and keep working hard."

"We're definitely a state contender this year," he said. "It's just a matter of taking it game by game and buying in to the team concept. We expect to be good this year."

So, what does Durrant Miles (6'4, 225) bring to the gridiron?

"The big thing for the coaches was just seeing my athleticism," he said. "I think I'm pretty good at stopping the run, plugging up holes, but feel I'm at my best as a pass rusher," he added.
