Summit HS CB Charles Okonkwo (Fontana, CA) picked up an offer from Boise State a few months back and has since reeled in four more to bring his total to seven. The talented CB also took an unofficial visit to The Blue shortly after receiving that offer and now says Boise State is his leader. So, why are the Broncos on top?

"Yeah, I'd say Boise State is on top right now," he said. "But I'm still open to other schools too," he added.

"I have a better relationship with them compared to some of the other schools," he stated. "They've been recruiting me for a long time now and I really enjoyed going up there for a visit."

"Coach Bhonapha is recruiting me," said Okonkwo. "He's really cool, down to earth, and doesn't tell you things...just the truth. He'll tell you something whether you like it or not and I like that."

He says the atmosphere in Boise and the way the program operates is a big selling point for him.

"I really liked the atmosphere," he said. "All the coaches came out to greet me as soon as I got there. That was really nice. Also, I spoke to Coach Petersen and he told me that they run things differently at Boise State. It's all about work ethic and being a student first."

"I watched film with Coach Lake while I was up there," said Okonkwo. "He has that NFL background so he definitely knows what he's talking about and he showed me what they're looking for in a corner."

2012 signee Donte Deayon is currently in Boise and enrolled in the summer bridge program, but he's still recruiting his good friend and former HS teammate.

"Donte likes it up there," he said. "We were texting about it and he said it's all business. He told me they don't play around up there. He told me it's different, but that he's enjoying it. They have a huge hill they have to run up and down....sounds pretty crazy."

"It would definitely be cool to play with Donte in college."

Okonkwo and his teammates are looking to defend their CIF Title in 2012, but he says it'll take a lot of hard work to accomplish their goals.

"We have high expectations. We can definitely repeat," he said. "We have some tough competition but we expect to contend again. Everyone is working hard right now."

"I'll be stepping into Donte's leadership role," he said. "On game-day, I'm quiet, laid back, and would say I'm more of a lead by example guy," he added.
