Cardinal-Newman HS TE Matt Burke (West Palm Beach, FL) picked up an offer from Boise State a couple months ago and says he's still wide open at this point in his recruitment. Burke says he's waiting to see which schools are "most interested" and plans to narrow his list from there. So, where does Boise State currently stand?

"I'm wide open right now," he said. "I don't think I'll be making my decision anytime soon," he added.

"Boise State offered a few months ago," he stated. "Me and Coach Lake talked for a bit, said the coaching staff really liked me, and that they were going to offer."

"I love their offense," he said in regards to Boise State. "They've had a great football team over the last few years. The new playoff system should give them even more of a chance to play in the big game and will definitely give them a boost. And of course, the blue field. Who doesn't like blue turf?"

The talented TE is currently being recruited by new DBs Coach Jimmy Lake.

"I spoke to Coach Lake last week or so," said Burke. "Obviously, he has great experience coming from the NFL and knows what it takes to play at the highest level. He's a real laid back guy, but knows when to be serious."

He went on to say that he's looking for the "whole package" and will narrow his list in the coming months.

"I'm waiting to see who is most interested," he said. "I'd say I'm looking for the whole package. Academics are definitely important since that's always been a big thing in my family. I'm also looking for a place that feels at home."

Burke and his teammates have made the state playoffs two years in a row, but were eliminated in the first round both times. Their goal this year is simple - get past the first round.

"We're looking to not just make the playoffs but go further," he said. "It's been tough to get knocked out two years in a row in the first round."

"Summer workouts are going great," said Burke. "Our coaches are really pushing us this summer and helping us to get better."

So, what does Matt Burke (6'6, 218lbs) bring to the gridiron?

"Everyone loves my hands and size," he said. "They also think I have a great frame, the ability to put more weight on, and that I'm a mismatch for DBs," he added.

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Matt Burke.
