Nevada Union HS LB Tanner Vallejo (Grass Valley, CA) verbally committed to Boise State back in June and is currently in the middle of fall camp as he and his teammates look to compete for a section championship this fall. The future Bronco also just recently set his official visit to The Blue. So, when will he be in Boise for his official visit?

"I talked to Coach Gregory today and we just set my official visit," he said. "I'll be up there for the Fresno State game," he added.

"I'm 110% committed to Boise State," he stated. "It's really all about the coaches, they talk to me just about every day, and I know that they'll treat me as a son. They were straight-up with me on my visit up there and I like that. Boise also felt a lot like home."

"I spoke to Coach Petersen last week," said Vallejo. "He had just gotten back from vacation. What I like about Coach Petersen is how he's the same person on and off the field. He doesn't become a different person off the field like a lot of coaches. He's always the same person."

Vallejo sat down with LBs Coach Bob Gregory for a film session while in Boise back in June and says the coaching staff likes the fact that he has a "nose for the ball."

"Coach Gregory likes how I have a nose for the ball," he said. "He also likes how quick I am to read off the snap, how I finish plays, and how I run through the ball carrier."

"What I like about Coach Gregory is how he'll make sure you understand what you did wrong if you mess up on a play," said Vallejo. "He's not the type of coach that will send you to the back of the line without telling you what you did wrong."

"It's the perfect fit for me."

The talented LB was a tackling machine in 2011 as he racked up 150 tackles for the Nevada Union defense. His goal in 2012? To surpass 150 in tackles.

"I always set my goal to get more tackles than the year before," he said. "That means I'm going for at least 151," he added.

"We have our goals set high this year," he said. "We just started back up with fall camp this week and we'll put the pads on tomorrow. I think we definitely have the talent to win section this year. We just have to come together and play as a team."

And Vallejo (6'2, 227) went on to say that he has become much more of a vocal leader this year.

"I'm talking a lot more this year," he said. "I'm comfortable with that now. I'm trying to fill that leadership role since we didn't have a lot of that last year."
