Jesuit HS ATH Thomas Sperbeck (Carmichael, CA) took an official visit to The Blue this past weekend and didn't leave empty handed as Head Coach Chris Petersen extended an offer to the talented ATH. Sperbeck says he enjoyed every minute of his visit to Boise and would like to make his college decision within the next week or so.

"I really enjoyed it," he said. "Basically, I really liked the coaching staff. I thought they were great. I loved hearing their perspective on the program. They're also building a nice new facility for the football program, loved the campus, and it really had a college town-feel to it. Overall, it was a really good trip."

"They're recruiting me as a Free Safety," he stated. "I had Coach Strausser come for an in-home visit about a week and a half ago and was able to sit down with Coach Lake on my visit. He talked to me about a lot of things, coming in over the summer, footwork, what he looks for in a player, and things like that. He's definitely a great coach and someone I could see myself playing for."

"I sat down with Coach Petersen too," said Sperbeck. "It was great. He talked to me about the program, where they're headed, what they look for in recruits, and a lot of other things like that."

It was during that meeting that Head Coach Chris Petersen extended an offer to Sperbeck.

"I was really excited on the inside but thankful at the same time," he said. "Obviously, you know a school is interested when they bring you in for an official visit. I was hoping they would offer but it was a big relief for me."

"My mom came with me on the visit," he said. "She was really happy for me too," he added.

So, where does Boise State now stand with the talented ATH?

"I'm going to make my decision soon," he said. "I'm going to sit down with my parents and we're going to talk about the schools. I haven't made my decision yet but I'm looking to within the next week or so."

So, what does Thomas Sperbeck (6'1, 175, 4.4) bring to the gridiron?

"I think the schools recruiting me like that I'm versatile," he said. "Being the son of a coach, I've been around football all my life and I think that probably helps," he added.
