Jesuit HS ATH Thomas Sperbeck (Carmichael, CA) verbally committed to Boise State last month shortly after taking an official visit to The Blue. The talented ATH says Boise State had "everything" he wanted and Sperbeck brings versatility to the Broncos as he can play a number of different positions on both sides of the ball.

"Boise State had everything I wanted," he said. "I just sat down with my parents, talked about it, compared Boise State to the other schools, and it ended up being a pretty short conversation," he added.

"I committed to Coach Strausser and then spoke to Coach Petersen," he stated. "They had just stepped off the plane in Vegas. Both were very excited. Coach Petersen believes Boise State will be a great fit for me. The whole coaching staff is great. I'm excited."

"I was recruited as a Free Safety," said Sperbeck. "I'm really excited to play for Coach Lake as well. He has been in the NFL and knows what it takes to play at a high level. I'm looking forward to it."

He also watched the Broncos defeat Washington in the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas and says he paid close attention to the performance of the DBs.

"I was eager to watch their DBs after talking to Coach Lake," he said. "I wanted to see those techniques he told me about in action. It was good to see that. I thought their DBs played really well as a whole."

"I'm 100% committed."

With Sperbeck's dad being a head coach, he says he believes that has always given him that extra "edge" when it comes to preparation.

"It definitely gave me an edge," said Sperbeck. "A lot of kids learned things down the road that I learned at a really young age. I've been around football my whole life. A lot of that comes naturally for me and it's a real benefit."

So, what can Bronco fans expect to see from Thomas Sperbeck?

"I'm good at finding where the play is going," he said. "That means having a quick reaction, making the play, and having a full knowledge of the game," he added.
