Wilsonville HS WR Tanner Shipley (Wilsonville, OR) signed with Boise State in February as a member of the 2013 recruiting class and was back on campus last weekend for the annual spring game. The talented WR is currently running track and playing baseball as he gears up for his arrival in Boise in just a couple months.

"It was great," he said. "It was the first trip to Boise for my mom and brother and I'm glad they loved it as much as I do," he added.

"You get that welcoming feeling right when you get there," he stated. "The coaches were there to welcome us, made us feel at home, and got to enjoy the spring game as well. Guys were really flying around out there and making plays. It felt like a little preview of what I'll see for the next 4-5 years."

"I got a chance to talk to Coach Prince and Coach Petersen," said Shipley. "Coach Prince showed us around campus and said he believes I can come in and make a quick impression. With Coach Petersen, he always has good things to say. It's a rewarding experience whenever you can talk to him."

The future Bronco says the main thing that stood out to him while watching the spring game was the intense competition out on the field.

"The competition is intense," he said. "You can see that the offense has a great group of guys and they're willing to do anything for the team to get that W. They play with heart and they're the best at what they do. They go out there and compete every day."

Shipley went on to say that he's currently running track and playing baseball, but is also putting in some work with the strength program that he received just shortly after Signing Day.

"They sent me the weight training program," he said. "It's a pretty tough workout. It really pushes me to stay consistent. I've seen results. I've gained a few pounds since Signing Day. I'm also running routes when I can, but also playing baseball and running track too."

"I'll be playing in the Les Schwab Bowl," said Shipley. "I'm pretty excited about that. It's a big honor to be selected and I've been going to the game since I was little. It'll be great to actually play in it."

And the summer bridge program? Shipley (6'2, 183) says he "can't wait."

"I can't wait," he said. "I've been talking to some of the guys, getting pumped, and ready to put the pedal to the metal," he added.
