Paradise Valley HS QB Ryan Finley (Phoenix, AZ) signed with Boise State back in February as a member of the 2013 recruiting class and is currently preparing for his future as a Bronco. The talented QB has been studying the playbook over the past month and says he's eager to learn from the other Bronco QBs as well.

"I have a personal trainer," he said. "We've been working on strength and conditioning and it has worked well for me," he added.

"I got the playbook when I went up for the spring game," he stated. "They're doing some new stuff this year. I love it, get excited learning about it, and I've been studying it. I talk to Coach Smith around three times a week and he quizzes me on some of the stuff. He actually came down here a week ago and went over the playbook with me for a couple hours."

"I respect everything Coach Smith says and I'm excited to play for him," said Finley. "I like how competitive he is, but he makes everything fun as well. I don't think there's ever going to be a boring moment with him."

He went on to say that he's also eager to learn from the other Bronco QBs currently on the roster.

"Joe (Southwick) is the guy," he said. "He knows everything there is to know about being a QB at Boise. I'll definitely tail him around and learn as much as I can about the offense from him. I'm excited to join that group of QBs."

"The main thing for me is just getting in there and learning from those guys," said Finley. "As for redshirting, I'll do whatever they tell me to do, but I think it does have its advantages. I'll be able to learn the playbook, watch those guys out on the field, and be ready to compete once spring ball rolls around next year."

Like the other 2013 signees, Finley (6'4, 188) will enroll at Boise State next month and start summer workouts with the team.

"I'm excited," he said. "I love the city and I'm ready to get to work," he added.
