Fruitland HS ATH Alec Dhaenens (Fruitland, ID) signed with Boise State back in February as a member of the 2013 recruiting class and is currently preparing for his future as a Bronco. The talented ATH has already started participating in summer workouts and says he's eager to begin his playing career on The Blue.

"I've been driving over to Boise twice a week and working out with the team," he said. "It's definitely a lot tougher than HS, more intense, but it's a really cool atmosphere," he added.

"It's a welcoming atmosphere," he stated. "The guys are awesome. The seniors have really helped us learn what we need to do."

"The player-run practices are intense," said Dhaenens. "The seniors take control of each position and the QBs take control of the offense. The practices are basically the same ones we'll be doing in the fall."

Boise State TEs Gabe Linehan and Holden Huff have also welcomed their new teammate to The Blue.

"Gabe and Holden are great guys," he said. "They're good guys on and off the field. I know I'll learn a lot from them. They're always pushing me to get better."

And the ACL injury? Alec says he's participating in every workout and the knee is doing good.

"The knee is doing good," he said. "I can do everything that they do. It's awesome because I missed football a lot. It feels natural to be back out there and playing."

While football is at the top of the list, Alec and Joey's new roommates are looking to learn more about one of Idaho's favorite pastimes.

"Jake (Roh) and Ryan (Finley) have been wanting me to teach them how to hunt," said Dhaenens. I'm going to have to show them that. I talk to them quite a bit. They're really cool guys."

And starting college? Alec says he's excited.

"I'm excited," he said. "It'll be nice to be on my own, do my own thing, but also be close enough that I can visit them on the weekends," he added.
