La Habra HS DT Greg Gaines (La Habra, CA) verbally committed to Boise State back during the spring and is off to a good start in his senior season as he and his teammates look to win a CIF Championship. The talented DT is not only the star on defense, but has also scored three TDs on offense through the first two games.

"I think we're playing really well on defense," he said. "We only gave up a FG in the first game and then another FG in the first half of the second game," he added.

"I still haven't gotten a sack yet," he stated. "I can play better, but I've gotten a few good hits on the QB in both games. They usually run the ball away from my side of the field, so I need to move around on the D-line."

"I've got three rushing TDs through two games," said Gaines. "They put me at RB in our goal-line package and let me run the ball. I had a fifteen yard TD in game one and then a seven and eight yard TD in game two."

And their goal for the season remains the same as they look to win a CIF Championship.

"I definitely think we can win CIF," he said. "We just have to keep playing well as a team, getting better, and playing hard. Our defense this year is the best we've had in a while and our QB is playing really well."

He also scheduled his official visit to The Blue as he'll be in Boise for the Nevada game in October.

"I'm going up to Boise on October 19th for the Nevada game," said Gaines. "I heard the game-day atmosphere is great in Boise. I'm excited to see that and be around the players some more. It'll be a lot of fun."

With the future Bronco continuing to play well, other schools are still trying to recruit him.

"Oklahoma asked me if I would consider an offer from them," he said. "Basically, I just told them that I'm 100% committed to Boise State. Boise State is the best fit for me."

"Oklahoma is a great football school," he said. "I just don't think it's a good fit for me. It's way too hot down there and there's a lot of humidity too."

He went on to say that he's excited to play for the Bronco defense and the coaches believe he could make an early impact on the field.

"They think I could come in and play early," he said. "My goal is to go in there, play well, and earn playing time," he added.
