La Habra HS DT Greg Gaines (La Habra, CA) verbally committed to Boise State back during the spring and took his official visit to The Blue just last weekend as he watched the Broncos defeat the rival Wolf Pack of Nevada. So, how was the visit to Boise?

"It was awesome," he said. "I thought I really got the whole college experience since I went up there by myself," he added.

"The new facility is awesome," he stated. "The details on the wall are awesome, the weight room is huge, and the locker room was really cool too."

"I thought the D-line really picked it up in the second half," said Gaines. "They had a couple sacks and really got after the QB. They played really well."

The future Bronco went on to say that he'll wear #99 next season and could see playing time as a freshman.

"I met with Coach K and Coach Avalos on Sunday," he said. "I'll wear #99 next year. They also don't want me to get any bigger. They think I can come in and contribute right away."

"I talked to Coach Petersen too," said Gaines. "He asked me about grades, classes, what I want to major in, and stuff like that. He also said that I'll play next year if I'm ready to go."

The talented DT has 7 sacks through seven games, but says he wants to finish the season with at least 15 sacks.

"I want more sacks," he said. "I want to get to 15 sacks or so. I think we're playing really well right now on defense. We're able to stop the run and not too many teams have been able to throw the ball against us either."

And his off-season workout program?

"I think I'm playing well this season because of my workout program," he said. "I pulled my Chevy Silverado that is about 7,000 pounds around the parking lot four or five times whenever I could," he added.
