Boise State AD Mark Coyle Leaves

Mark Coyle came to Boise State right at the end of a tumultuous time when long tenured Gene Bleymaier had been fired amid controversy & the Boise State athletic department was looking for a new leader and a new direction. Coyle helped right the ship & steer the Broncos into the smooth waters of 2015. Now, he takes his leave to a more familiar surroundings in a Basketball first school, Syracuse.

Mark Coyle was named the Boise State Athletic Director in December of 2011 and for 3 and a half years, he helped lead the Broncos to new heights in Basketball on both the Men's and Women's side, and helped the Broncos navigate the departure of ultra-successful Football Coach Chris Petersen, and the subsequent hiring of home town favorite Bryan Harsin.

Coyle was hired out of the Kentucky Athletic Department, where Basketball is the first, second, and nearly only thought, and came to Football crazy Boise State, but somehow.. it worked. Boise State has made the field of the NCAA Tournament twice in the past 3 years, and should be favored to return this coming season as well. Football has just come off yet another Fiesta Bowl victory with a first year Coach and a team that was supposed to be 'building', and once again, the Broncos are ranked in every Preseason Top-25.

Syracuse is getting a strong leader who may not be flashy, but who more than makes up for it in high level experience and solid behind the scenes determination.

As for Boise State, the hunt being anew for the next leader to take the Bronco Athletic Department to new heights.
