Semisi Lauaki Favors One Above All Others

Lawndale CA, (Leuzinger HS) Defensive Lineman Semisi Lauaki has four offers already, including Utah and Boise State, but there's one school that would likely earn a commitment on the spot if they offered..

A native of Los Angeles suburb Lawndale, Calif., it's no surprise that Leuzinger High School defensive lineman Semisi Lauaki grew up a fan of a school just up the road; UCLA.

And as the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Tongan athlete has seen interest from college football teams grow, Lauaki says he covets an offer from the Bruins and would likely commit on the spot if it happened.

"My dream school is UCLA," he said. "I (recently) went to their camp and won defensive line MVP. Their coaches told me to hit them up and I did. One coach told me he wants to make me a Bruin."

But Lauaki, who tries to pattern his game after NFL star Jadeveon Clowney, knows that scholarship offers aren't a sure thing and is doing his due diligence in terms of his recruitment. With offers from Boise State, Utah, Nevada and San Diego State, he says the Broncos and the Utes are his top schools.

"Utah is a Pac-12 school and I like that they came and beat the California schools this year," Lauaki said. "Boise State is a top 25 school."

When the Broncos offered him over two weeks ago, he immediately saw an opportunity for early playing time on The Blue.

"When they first offered me they said they like my techniques," Lauaki said. "I asked a few questions about how the team would look like regarding my position. They have seven D-linemen leaving after this season."

Lauaki says he doesn't have a specific time frame for making a verbal commitment, but he does want to take a few visits this fall.

"I will visit Boise State, Utah and Nevada this fall," he said.
