Boise State's Marisa Howard finished fourth yesterday in the steeplechase at the World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea.
Howard finished with a time of 9:50.64, less than 13 seconds away from a bronze medal. Ekaterina Sokolenko won the Gold in 9:25.77, while fellow Russian was second (9:35.99) and Kaya Ozlem of Turkey took third with a time of 9:37.79.
Howard, a two-time All-American and Mountain West champion in the event, holds both the Boise State and Mountain West records in the steeplechase. She finished second in the nation at the 2014 NCAA National Track & Field Championships with a time of 9:43.82. Howard lowered that time this year at the NCAA Championships, finishing in 9:37.84 to take fourth place.
