Boise State football fans will get their first and last chance to see the team before the season starts at the annual fall scrimmage Friday night in Albertsons Stadium.
Lithia Ford is sponsoring the scrimmage, which is expected to last approximately 90 minutes. Parking and admission are free. Second-year head coach Bryan Harsin will lead his team on the Bronco Walk at 4 p.m., and gates to the stadium will open at 5:30. (Note: only gates A, D and N will be open for the scrimmage. Concessions will be available at select locations in the stadium.
Bronco fans are eager to see the progress of the quarterbacks and running backs, in particular, as Harsin and his staff have to fill holes left by the graduation of starting quarterback Grant Hedrick and the early departure of running back Jay Ajayi. Ajayi tested the waters of the National Football League after his junior year, and was drafted in the fifth round of the NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. There are numerous battles for playing time on the defensive side of the ball, with eyes on the competition for one safety spot and the nickel position.
The first 10,000 fans through the gates will receive a 2015 schedule poster, and handy schedule cards can also be picked up.
The scrimmage is set for this Friday at 6:30 p.m. After the scrimmage, the next time the public will be able to see the Broncos will be Friday, September 4 when they take the field for the season opener against the University of Washington.
