Freshman Phenom Allie Ostrander Leads Boise State Broncos To Victory at Speedway Meadow

Earlier this year, Boise State signed the #1 high school cross country women's recruit in the nation, Allie Ostrander. It didn't take long for Ostrander to show her worth.

Allie Ostrander of Boise State won in her collegiate debut, winning the 6-kilometer race at the Dual in Speedway Meadow in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.  Minttu Hukka was second and Brenna Peloquin completed a Bronco sweep.

Ostrander finished the distance in 20:44.40, while Hukka, a transfer from Lamar, clocked in at 20:58.3 and Peloquin third with a time of 21:00.4  That enabled the Lady Bronocs to defeat the University of San Francisco 21 to 36 (low score winning).

Sophomores Michael Vennard (25:21.3) and Louis McAfee (25:21.4) finished second and third in the men's 8k to lead Boise State to a 23 to 33 victory.  Teammates Rhys Park (25:33.0) and Dan Oekerman (25:37.8) finished fourth and fifth for Coach Corey Ihmels' Broncos.  San Francisco's Alex Short won the individual title with a time of 24:55.1.
