The Boise State volleyball team continues to roll, downing the 6-1 Houston Cougars this afternoon at the North Texas Invitational in Denton, Texas.
The Broncos captured the first set 25-17, then, after Houston closed to 9-7 in the second set, went on a 16-4 blitz to take that set 25-11. The third set was much closer, with Houston edging within one at 19-18 and 21-20. But sophomore Sierra Nobley put the game away with a kill, her 12th of the match, to secure a 25-22 Bronco win and sweep of the Cougars.
Senior Sarah Baugh registered four service aces to lead a category that head coach Shawn Garus stressed this week. Junior Maddy O'Donnell had a super game with eight kills and a 50.0% hitting percentage (kills - errors/total attacks). Maddi Osburn led Boise State with 14 digs, Kaitlin Oliver had seven blocks, and Baught was her dependable self at setter with 35 assists. Boise State, which performed superbly last week with just 10 errors against Northwestern, had just 11 against Houston.
Boise State won for the fourth straight match to improve its season mark to 5-3. The Broncos have about an hour-and-a-half to rest before meeting Abilene Christian at 3:30 Mountain Time.
