The Boise State volleyball team gave it their best shot, before falling in five sets to conference favorite and #19 Colorado State.

FORT COLLINS, Colorado--The Boise State volleyball team nearly pulled off a huge upset on the road, falling to #19 Colorado State this afternoon 19-25, 28-26, 22-25, 25-21, 15-12.

Coach Shawn Garus' team came from a 12-11 deficit in the opening round as Sierra Nobley and Sabryn Roberts had three kills apiece down the stretch to lead the Broncos to a 25-19 win.

The second set was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams until kills by Adrianna Culbert and Crystal Young saved the day for the home team.  The Broncos then regained the lead at two sets to one with a 25-22 victory in the third set, but were behind nearly the entire fourth set in a bid to pull off the upset.

The Lady Broncos had a lead of 8-6 in the fifth and determining set, and were ahead 11-10 when the Rams went on a streak to capture the match.

Boise State featured a balanced attack once again led by Nobley with 27 kills.  Roberts finished with 18 kills while Kaitlyn Oliver had 13 and Maddy O'Donnell 12.  Senior setter Sarah Baugh dished out 70 assists and helped the Broncos register a 28.4% hitting percentage.  Maddi Osburn had 32 digs to lead the Bronco defense.

Alex Reid had 21 kills to pace the Rams.

The Broncos slipped to 8-6 overall and 0-2 in Mountain West Conference play, while Colorado State is 9-3 and 2-0 in conference.
